Well it’s been quite a while since we had a newsletter so there is a lot to catch up on.
The community group on Facebook is getting very busy . If you haven’t managed to visit yet please spare a bit of time to do so. I think you, like me, will be amazed by some of the work people are showing. It’s a lovely mixture of people showing their first pieces to others who have obviously been glass painting for a while.
Simple Glass Cutting for glass painters.
Really pleased with this article/video. In it we take you through very basic glass cutting. We use minimal equipment to cut square, rectangular and circular glass for sun catchers etc. These are all very useful skill for a glass painter as decent glaziers who will do this for you are pretty difficult to find now-a-days.
Are All Outliners the same?
This is another question we often get asked. To to spoil the surprise but the answer is obviously “no”. This article and video explains the differences between the outliners and when each can be used.
Lesson 8. Glass Painting Design.
Well this is the 8th lesson in our free online course. It doesn’t actually teach you how to create designs but it does tell you about about different styles of designs. Plus a bit about where to get them and how to alter them to suit your needs.
Resizing a Design in GIMP.
Now this is a bit of a strange one on two counts. Firstly there is no article on the site for it. I will do one eventually but I did the video very quickly to help someone. The other strange this is it doesn’t contain any glass painting. Having said that, resizing designs is something most of us need to do from time to time.
Celebration Sun Catcher.
In these two articles I take you through making a celebration sun catcher. Unlike our normal sun catchers this one is quite large and includes a hanging chain and wording.
In the first article we show you how to lead up a piece of round glass with two hangers and a chain between.
In the second part we deal with the piping and the painting.
This is one of those projects where you will want to tailor the design to your own needs. To that end we have supplied a basic wording template to help you.
Well that should give you plenty to watch and read for now. We”l try and get the next newsletter out sooner. I look forward to meeting more of you in the Facebook group.
